主辦全民英檢的語言測驗訓練中心，分析近11年高中生的測驗成績發現，2001至2012年共約63萬名高中生參加全民英檢中級，聽力成績從平均76分成長為84分，大幅成長8分之多，且北中南東學生的成績都有進步。

進一步比對閱讀成績也發現，10年前中南部學生的閱讀成績，明顯優於聽力成績，而現在兩者的平均成績，差距在1分左右。

語測中心執行長廖咸浩表示，早年英語教育著重文法閱讀，近年來則趨向重視聽說讀寫均衡發展，也讓國內學生的英語聽力有顯著進步。
